Bozen-Bolzano is located in South Tyrol in the Italian Alps. Livestock farming has a long tradition in the region and an outstanding role in the province. Nearly 9,000 small scaled mountain farms, on average not bigger than 12 hectares, produce agricultural products, conserve the landscape and gain additional values through e.g. agri-tourism. The latter forms a major part of the prospering local economy. South Tyrol developed as one of the most popular destinations in the Alpine Space located at the crossroads between the German and Italian-speaking cultures and economies. The vibrant city of Bozen-Bolzano is surrounded by the Alps with its UNESCO world heritage of the Dolomites and its wine and fruit yards. South Tyrol is the perfect place to gather people from all over Europe at an international conference.
